Paint the Beach Plein Air Festival invites artists from across the country to come and experience all Fort Myers beach has to offer and create artwork of the environs. During the event, the public is invited to observe this challenging form of open air painting as artists compete in a three-day art competition throughout Fort Myers Beach. The artists capture the beauty, texture and light of the local landscape. The celebration culminates in a two-day sale at Santini Marina Plaza, where the artists display the art they created all week long.
Friends of Lovers Key (FOLKS) has joined with the Americana Community Music Association (ACMA), to offer a series of monthly Free Acoustic concerts of all original music this upcoming season.
The second scheduled concert will feature three local musicians, Mike McMillan, Kip Lawrence and David Hintz. These songwriters will share original Americana music in Bluebird Cafe style.
The concerts are free with paid park entry fee. They will take place in the large gazebo, located on the beach at Lovers Key State Park. Seating is available for the first 80 people. Bring a beach chair for additional seating. Please arrive early enough to walk or take the tram to the Gazebo on the beach.
Snacks and beverages will be available by donation. Proceeds will benefit FOLKS.
Songwriters at Sunset 2016 concert dates are scheduled for January 26, February 18, and March 15.

Ft. Myers Beach’s yearly pub crawl features trolley transportation to six great area restaurants, each providing appetizer items or ‘tapas’ included in the price for the event. The event will also include raffle prizes, grand prizes and a poker run. Don’t miss out on the fun!

The Battle on the Blueway SUP Race will be held May 30th, on the Calusa Blueway in Fort Myers Beach, FL. This sanctioned WPA points event will feature two distance races (7 mile and 2 mile), a kids’ and Special Olympic race, a demo day, vendors displaying paddle merchandise, and non profits displaying nature / history materials and artifacts. This is a family oriented event with a festival atmosphere that brings paddling and Florida’s native wildlife and Calusa heritage together.

4th annual “catch, release, and care” tournament in Ft. Myers Beach
To celebrate the history of the first documented tarpon caught on a rod-and-reel in “Ding” Darling’s Tarpon Bay in 1885, Doc Ford’s and “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge have partnered to host this tournament, one of the best in this area. Registration is $500 per team of 4, 100% of which goes toward awards. The 20th Annual Taste of the Beach will be held Sunday May 3, 2015, on Old San Carlos Blvd. Restaurants will offer samples of their signature dishes available for purchase and compete for top Taste of the Beach Award honors in the categories of Best Appetizer, Best Beef or Veal Dish, Best Seafood Dish, Best Chicken Dish, Best Dessert, Best Luncheon Specialty Dish, Best Decorated Booth, and People’s Choice. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. Food will be served until it runs out or at 5:00 p.m. Tickets will be available on site. Admission is $5 for adults and children over 12. Children under 12 are free. Food tickets will be $1.00 each, with a $5 average food serving price.

The Fort Myers Beach Film Festival is back for its ninth year, attracting independent film fans, filmmakers, and distributors to spend five fabulous days and nights on the Gulf beaches of Fort Myers Beach, Florida.
Attendees come from all over the world to exchange ideas, make new contacts, and enjoy some compelling and interesting films encompassing a wide range of tastes.
The festival begins on April 22nd and and goes through April 26th, 2015 with events for all ages.
