Battle on the Blueway SUP Race

The Battle on the Blueway SUP Race will be held May 30th, on the Calusa Blueway in Fort Myers Beach, FL. This sanctioned WPA points event will feature two distance races (7 mile and 2 mile), a kids’ and Special Olympic race, a demo day, vendors displaying paddle merchandise, and non profits displaying nature / history materials and artifacts. This is a family oriented event with a festival atmosphere that brings paddling and Florida’s native wildlife and Calusa heritage together.

“Ding” Darling & Doc Ford’s Tarpon Tournament

4th annual “catch, release, and care” tournament in Ft. Myers Beach

To celebrate the history of the first documented tarpon caught on a rod-and-reel in “Ding” Darling’s Tarpon Bay in 1885, Doc Ford’s and “Ding” Darling Wildlife Society-Friends of the Refuge have partnered to host this tournament, one of the best in this area. Registration is $500 per team of 4, 100% of which goes toward awards. 20th Annual Taste of the Beach

Come on down to Fort Myers Beach to enjoy tasty samples from local area restaurants as well as great live entertainment at the Taste of the Beach.

The 20th Annual Taste of the Beach will be held Sunday May 3, 2015, on Old San Carlos Blvd.  Restaurants will offer samples of their signature dishes available for purchase and compete for top Taste of the Beach Award honors in the categories of Best Appetizer, Best Beef or Veal Dish, Best Seafood Dish, Best Chicken Dish, Best Dessert, Best Luncheon Specialty Dish, Best Decorated Booth, and People’s Choice. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. Food will be served until it runs out or at 5:00 p.m. Tickets will be available on site. Admission is $5 for adults and children over 12. Children under 12 are free. Food tickets will be $1.00 each, with a $5 average food serving price.

Fort Myers Beach Film Festival

The Fort Myers Beach Film Festival is back for its ninth year, attracting independent film fans, filmmakers, and distributors to spend five fabulous days and nights on the Gulf beaches of Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

Attendees come from all over the world to exchange ideas, make new contacts, and enjoy some compelling and interesting films encompassing a wide range of tastes.

The festival begins on April 22nd and and goes through April 26th, 2015 with events for all ages.
