It’s Time for the 2016 Island Hopper
Songwriter Fest

The Island Hopper Songwriter Fest brings music back to the beach with new artists and new events in 2016.

The free festival will take place over 10 days on Southwest Florida’s most beautiful barrier islands and offers a range of star-studded performances. The festival kicks off on Captiva Island, September 23-25 and wraps up September 30-October 2 on Fort Myers Beach. Historic downtown Fort Myers will once again feature midweek performances. There will be a limited number of ticketed events for special performances.

Get excited for our first headlining act, Maren Morris, whose single, “My Church” is currently in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot Country chart.

USA Today listed the event as one of the 10 best sand sculpting competitions and the Southeastern Tourism Society recognized the American Sand Sculpting Championship as a top 20 event of the entire southeastern United States!

Howl’oween Pet Parade

4th Annual Pawsitively Amazing Pet Parade on October 18 at Santini Marina Plaza in Fort Myers Beach. Join the fun as pets and their owners attend the Pet Parade dressed in Howl’oween Costume and are judged. The event includes vendors with crafts, etc.

Fort Myers Craft Beer Fest

Music and over 75 Beers to Sample at the Ft. Myers Beer Fest October 4

The Marina at Edison Ford is pleased to announce the inaugural Fort Myers Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, October 4th on site at their location in the River District.

This one-day festival will feature more than 75 craft beers from around the world and live musical performances. Kick off will begin at 12:00 p.m. with entertainment by Wholetones until 2:30 p.m., followed by Little Eddie and the Fat Fingers from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Deb and the Dynamics from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Admission is free and advance tickets for $30 provide an unlimited sampling wrist band, $35 at the gate. However, single craft beer tastings will be available for $5. Advanced wristbands can be purchased at http://www.PinchersUSA.com or at the Marina at Edison Ford through Oct. 3.

The Pure Fort Myers grand opening festivities will also be on-site that day, featuring food from Texas Tony’s, a visit with members of the professional hockey team, the Florida Everblades team and cheerleaders, as well as a special appearance by Swampy, their mascot. Pinchers and the Edison & Ford Winter Estates will also be offering specials on kids meals and tours as Pure Fort Myers river excursions will be running 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and a sunset cruise at 6 p.m.

Cost: Free – There is no charge to attend the event. However, single craft beer tastings will be available for $5, with all you can taste wristbands selling for $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the event.

2014 Island Hopper Songwriter Fest coming to Captiva Island and Fort Myers Beach, Florida

The first ever Island Hopper Songwriter Fest will bring nationally acclaimed singer-songwriters, including Kristian Bush of Sugarland and Thompson Square, to the islands of Captiva and Ft. Myers Beach. Presented by BMI, along with iHeartRadio, Cat Country 107.1, and The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel, the festival will take place over two weekends at popular island venues. With dozens of FREE shows to select from, attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience the voices, back stories, and personalities of the artists in intimate island settings (please note not all the events are free. The Tale of the Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest………

Only three years have passed since Lord Henry Hyde arrived here in the Port of Old San Carlos. The Crown dispatched the governor to ensure commerce runs smoothly in the Port, and under his direction all forms of enterprise have flourished, both legitimate and otherwise. They all pay the Governor’s taxes, one way or another. And so the Port has become a haven for the most notorious and flagrantly shameless pirates, privateers, and ne’er-do-wells. Most recently the notorious Captain Flood was left ashore by the mutinous Morgan Levy, and is looking for payback and the return of his ship, the Briar Rose. Flood now commands a small fleet, having built alliances with the captains of several vessels of war; the Black Pearl, the Pieces of Eight, and the Black Duck. He hopes to persuade the Lord Governor to allow him the use of the Port’s cannon batteries to retake his ship. A storm is brewing near the Port!

On Your Mark, Get Set … Marathon in Ft. Myers Beach!

Fort Myers 2014 Marathon, Half Marathon & 5K

This year’s Ft. Myers Marathon presented by Ted Todd Insurance and Publix will be run Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, starting at 7am at the Pinchers Marina Restaurant on West First Street in downtown Ft. Myers.

The course will weave through McGregor corridor neighborhoods and cross over the Caloosohatchee Bridge to North Fort Myers, then cross back over the Edison Bridge through the River district and across the Edison Bridge spans again before finishing the last mile through downtown and West First to Pinchers Marina.

This year’s event will also partner with Pinchers, including all participants in the inaugural “Stonecrab Festival” which will take place November 7-9 on the marina and restaurant property adjacent to the Edison and Ford Winter Estates.

The marathon course will be comprised of over 11 miles of running through shaded neighborhoods, plus 6 miles over water via four bridge crossings. The half marathon has two bridge crossings and will cover approximately 6 miles of neighborhood trails.

One new segment to this year’s event is a five person Corporate Relay Challenge that will benefit the Kids for Kids foundation with Golisano Children’s Hospital. Each member will run a 5 mile or greater leg of the course with the best five overall times winning the competition.
