Set your compass for the 11th Annual Fort Myers Beach Pirate Festival

Join jolly pirates, wenches, corsairs and beauties as they make camp and prepare for battle on the edge of the Historic Seaport District of Old San Carlos. The swashbuckling fun doesn’t stop for a moment during the Columbus Day weekend celebration.

Named the #2 Pirate Festival in the Country by USA Today, this family-friendly event attracts thousands of people that come to enjoy the pirate bazaar, themed live music and performances, exhilarating live ship battles, children’s activities and the jolly pub quest (21+ event).

Pirates and landlubbers both young and old are sure to walk away with memories to treasure.

Fort Myers Craft Beer Fest

Music and over 75 Beers to Sample at the Ft. Myers Beer Fest October 4

The Marina at Edison Ford is pleased to announce the inaugural Fort Myers Craft Beer Fest on Saturday, October 4th on site at their location in the River District.

This one-day festival will feature more than 75 craft beers from around the world and live musical performances. Kick off will begin at 12:00 p.m. with entertainment by Wholetones until 2:30 p.m., followed by Little Eddie and the Fat Fingers from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Deb and the Dynamics from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Admission is free and advance tickets for $30 provide an unlimited sampling wrist band, $35 at the gate. However, single craft beer tastings will be available for $5. Advanced wristbands can be purchased at http://www.PinchersUSA.com or at the Marina at Edison Ford through Oct. 3.

The Pure Fort Myers grand opening festivities will also be on-site that day, featuring food from Texas Tony’s, a visit with members of the professional hockey team, the Florida Everblades team and cheerleaders, as well as a special appearance by Swampy, their mascot. Pinchers and the Edison & Ford Winter Estates will also be offering specials on kids meals and tours as Pure Fort Myers river excursions will be running 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and a sunset cruise at 6 p.m.

Cost: Free – There is no charge to attend the event. However, single craft beer tastings will be available for $5, with all you can taste wristbands selling for $30 in advance and $35 on the day of the event.

2014 Island Hopper Songwriter Fest coming to Captiva Island and Fort Myers Beach, Florida

The first ever Island Hopper Songwriter Fest will bring nationally acclaimed singer-songwriters, including Kristian Bush of Sugarland and Thompson Square, to the islands of Captiva and Ft. Myers Beach. Presented by BMI, along with iHeartRadio, Cat Country 107.1, and The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel, the festival will take place over two weekends at popular island venues. With dozens of FREE shows to select from, attendees will have the unique opportunity to experience the voices, back stories, and personalities of the artists in intimate island settings (please note not all the events are free. The Tale of the Fort Myers Beach Pirate Fest………

Only three years have passed since Lord Henry Hyde arrived here in the Port of Old San Carlos. The Crown dispatched the governor to ensure commerce runs smoothly in the Port, and under his direction all forms of enterprise have flourished, both legitimate and otherwise. They all pay the Governor’s taxes, one way or another. And so the Port has become a haven for the most notorious and flagrantly shameless pirates, privateers, and ne’er-do-wells. Most recently the notorious Captain Flood was left ashore by the mutinous Morgan Levy, and is looking for payback and the return of his ship, the Briar Rose. Flood now commands a small fleet, having built alliances with the captains of several vessels of war; the Black Pearl, the Pieces of Eight, and the Black Duck. He hopes to persuade the Lord Governor to allow him the use of the Port’s cannon batteries to retake his ship. A storm is brewing near the Port!

Did you know that the Fort Myers Beach Shrimping fleet is the largest commercial fishing fleet in the Gulf of Mexico? Shrimping, known as “Pink Gold”, contributes millions of dollars to our economy.

Here is your chance to learn first hand about the Commercial Fishing Industry.

Ostego Bay Foundation Marine Science Center offers a Three-Hour Guided Tour. The Tour includes a 1 1/2 hour guided visit at the Science Center includes a history of the industry and area ecosystems with many exhibits. The Tour continues with a visit to the commercial fishing industry docks, including Erickson & Jensen Supply House, Trico Shrimp loading dock and Beach Seafood. See how the boats are unloaded, the trawl doors are built, the shrimp nets are hand-sewn, the seafood is processed, and other important factors used in this unique industry. Grab Your Passport and Get Ready to Shuffle!

Sand Shuffle 2013 – Ft. Myers Beach

As part of the Annual Sand Sculpting Championship at Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, event organizers have added the new “Sand Shuffle,” a passport program with 5 participating locations throughout the area including: Seminole Casino of Immokalee, Edison & Ford Winter Estates, DiamondHead Resort, Fish-Tale Marina and the Wyndham Garden Hotel Fort Myers Beach. Prior to the event, each location will have a two ton of sand sculpture sculpted by one of the participating artists. When visitors arrive at each location, they can get their passport stamped at the designated area. They are also encouraged to take photos with the Sand Sculptures and share on Facebook and Instagram at #sandshuffle.

Kids can also take part in the Sand Shuffle Scavenger Hunt. With each sculpture there is a question to answer. Once visitors have visited at least three of the five sand sculptures and had their passport stamped or scavenger hunt question answered correctly, they’ll be eligible to enter the drawings for great prize giveaways from our participating Sand Shuffle Partners. To enter, completed passports can be brought to the main entrance of the 2013 American Sand Sculpting Championships held November 22 to December 1, 2013.

Fort Myers Beach Fourth of July

Celebrate Independence Day

Festivities kick off with a 10 a.m. parade up Estero Blvd. Then, 15 minutes after sunset, one of the region’s most spectacular fireworks shows shoots off from the Fort Myers Beach Fishing Pier. Don’t miss the 8th Annual Turtle Trot Race coming up on May 11th, 2013. Everyone is invited…..runners, joggers, and walkers alike can join the fun and experience the beauty of Lovers Key State Park.

Participants will trek over a path along Black Island Trail, run up a 38-foot hill and cross two bridges as they race toward the finish line at the beach. Breakfast is supplied by the race’s Signature Sponsor, Whole Foods, and awards are presented at the Lovers Key pavilion at the end of the race.

Before May 3rd registration fee is $25 for adults and $15 for youth (18 and under). Week before the race $30 for all levels and day of race is $35 for all levels….register early and save!!!

This year we celebrate the 26th annual American Sand Sculpting Championships on Fort Myers Beach.

The American Championships is one of the longest running sand sculpting competitions in the

world and this year it will be the largest in the state of Florida.

Over 1000 tons of sand will be piled and sculpted in to unbelievable works of art.

More than any competition in Florida.

For the first time in its history the American Championships will host both singles and doubles divisions.

The event will be open daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Tickets are just $5 for adults and children 5 and older, 4 and under are free.
